Flipping a Diff...

Maybe a silly question, but has anyone ever looked at flipping the diff on a Passat 1.9 TDi/5 (or 6) speed g'box and swapping the whole lot into a T25?
Just a thought...

our gearboxes have an offset diff so can't be flipped, but I don't know about the passat box....but I bet syncronutz have checked it out and decided it couldn't be done

The casting is asymetric so no it can't be done unfortunately.

I looked into this about 10 years ago.It can be done but will need machined parts and custom drive shafts.Cost and hassle prity much outweigh a custom T25 gearbox plus then you either need an adapter plate or fit an upright engine.
I have seen a few audi boxes used upside down!
I have also owned a 3L V6 T25 that ran anti clockwise on an audi geardox.
Best performance ever but quite a fuel bill.Never got to strip it to see exactly how everything was done. This was a conversion done by a company in Joburgh(SA)

Thanks
