Bought this off ebay 2 weeks ago, 1.9 watercooled, fairly happy with it so far!

Had it trailered home, stripped it the next day, to find sooo much mud under the arches and underneath! REally solid underneath so gave it a clean an a wax oil.

Needs both rear lower arches and corners and alos one front step, parts are in the post so hopefull get them welded on in the next few weeks.

Hope to stick a bed in and use it within a month or so.....!?.

Bled the coolant last night after fitting a new tailpipe and coolant sensor, temp sits nice and no flashing lights soo far! Also shampooed the seats and painted the front bumper, very happy with how it came out, so the rear will be next! Started to rub some of the rust down ready for a coat of paint too.

Anyway I'll shut up an heres some pics for anyone who gives a $h1t...

Flippin heck - and folks say there are no bargains on ebay any more!

What is the motor like ?

I just paid a lot more than that just for a used motor ( ok, a good one - I hope - with a G/Tee of sorts, but still !! )

Why was it so cheap - what did the ad say to put folks off bidding ?

I'm not sure really, to be honest, its a little worse than the pictures suggest, engine appears ok, but is quite tappety havn't driven it any distance so cant really comment, doesn't leak or use water, temp sits ok!

The guy said h/g had gone due to loss of water, but i dont think it has, it had a water leak due to broken coolant sensor (was bodged up with a plastic bag! sorted that and bled it properly and seems ok....

both rear arches are fooked, one is rotten and the other has had a dodgy repair, few dents butis solid underneath which i'm more worried about!

I think the good price was due to poor key words in the title for the advert! was only 3/4 bidders, not really sure other than that!

More pics, my step arrived today so will do that soon, patching the passenger side, as really needs an arch to make perfect, rear arches here friday so will stick more pics up as i do it!

Anymore progress on this?
My brother and I are doing a rear arch. We have got as far as cutting all the rot out and now our knowledge has run out so we are sort of stepping into the unknown. It would be really handy if you could post up some more pictures of how you are going to weld the new panels on :D

Hi bud, yeah i'm just tackling it at the moment, i'll stick some pics up a bit later hopefully.

I got my self some spot weld cutters from local tool shop, i dot punched next to the first few inside the van, then just worked from the bottom up removing them.

The worst bit is removing the sealer!!! what an a***.

Removed the rear infill yesterday and found some more rot, so there is no 90 degree lip to weld the new panel to, more fabrication required!

Hi bud have taken some photos, do you want me to upload some? I'm reeplacing the rear arch with a vw one, so just a case of finding and drilling all the spot welds out, have got a little way and have to come back to it now as i'm off to uni.

Bit of an a*** of a job as lots of spot welds in the vehicle and in the arch. Mostly covered by thick layers of underseal!
