1Y engine - which inlet manifold? 1Y or CS

hello - I eventually got hold of a 1Y and am I'm planning to swop out the old cs 1.6 NA for it.
First question ...will the 1Y manifold fit - i can't see a direct answer via search
Alternatively, I'm also on the look out for JX parts to TD the 1Y - so let me know if you have surplus parts.

the 1y will fit. Obviously you will need to create your own air filter setup. If you have the time I would go that route. The 1y inlet is masive!
Good luck with getting the Jx bits.

I also heard that the exhaust manifold off the CS fits, but not properly,so do I buy a 1y gasket or a new CS gasket?
Not that I have the finances for the swop yet

Should fit perfectly on the exhaust. Its only the inlet ports that are different - but i use my inlet and outlet manifolds from my 1.7d without any issues.
Unless the CS is different?

Ringo - when you say the 1Y intake will fit .... will the engine & manifold drop straight in or will I have to cut & bend the left hand engine bay wall --- which I'd rather not do.
I assume the 1y exhaust mainfold will fit okay and not foul any bodywork?

No bending required - just new air filter work.

Yes, that will fit perfectly too - but you will need to manufacture your own exhaust.
If you have slight doubts about what you are doing then just stick the CS inlet and outlet manifolds on. This means you can use the same air filter and exhaust (off the shelf) from your 1.6d - Simple, and doesnt require any modifications.
If you have the time to experiment - please post your findings on here

I have a 1Y engine fitted but when i tried to use the inlet manifold it looked like there was no clearence to fit from the head to engine bay side.I used a CS inlet manifold and airbox but fitted the 1Y exhaust manifold and refabricated the down pipe to fit .

marn runs the 1.6 inlet manifold and air filter assembly and the 1.6 exhaust manifold, downpipe and silencer....but i did have to extend the end of the down pipe as it wouldnt quite reach the silencer sufficiently....just welded a 3 or 4 inch piece on the end to make sure the end was well in the silencer....something to do with the 1y block being 10mm taller......or so i read in another thread sonetime

Use 1Y inlet if you want marginally better flow, you'll have to use an aftermarket airfilter if you want to do this.
Use CS inlet manifold and match port it to the same shape as the 1.9l ports, tidier install, same airbox.
CS exhaust manifold and exhaust will fit, bolt up work and you get off the shelf parts instead of homebrews.
personally I would use all the CS stuff, looks like it's meant to be there then.
