my fridge has stopped working on 240 volts ive tested socket which is ok works fine on gas but need gas for my cheeseburgers

Probably the 240V element or the ECB dropped out for the 240V fridge supply. Grey box, two switches both pointing up, usually close to the hook up unit in a cupboard somewhere.

thanks is changing element straightforward and any ideas where i can purchace one

You can get them here, not sure of your model but around 100W is fine.
Someone might know of other places.

Straight forward once the fridge is out (see wiki article). Element slots into a tube, surrounded by metal foil and insulation. Undo the straps holding the foil/insulation together, part down the middle and withdraw the element.

Element connects via 3 leads to the mains connector on top of the fridge under a plastic cover (held by two screws).

Measure the element first before ordering one. With a multimeter - across the LIve and Neutral, should be around 450 ohms.
