aint done mine yet onion but yes they do slight angle mate has done it why not just get a decent set of round ones

have had alsorts in the doors in the past! 5x7s fit easier and will fit with out putting them in at an angle!! if you go round you'll get 5" at the top or 6 in the bottom without door mods with door mods you'll get 8" !!

I've heard circular design speakers reproduce sound better than them oval thingies - certainly the ones I fitted to my doors sound mighty fine.

do you have round or oval ones fitted ?
I have a pair of oval 6x9 5oo w's to fit soon and cant put them under the bed cos of the lpg tank , so was looking to fit them in the doors

Get a sub then you can fit tiny speakers in the top of the doors to provide imaging only. You can then fit tweeters on the ends of your dash.

eh onion i have put some 6x9s in my back door fit a treat mate and sound well if you at the club meet over weekend come have a listen
my system sounds mint so everyone tells me i got 6x9s in back door 2 midrange in overhead locker 2 sony speakers in bottom of front door (cheers philippacman) 2 tweeters on dash and 2 12" 900watt sony explods in a box 2 amps and thats your lot does sound nice wen you crank it up not distorted or anything crystal sound

err, it's the door structure that you need to stop resonating. The Dynamat would be better randomly applied to the metalwork. Also much better to fit the speakers through the card into the door structure; much stiffer. Less output lost as vibration = more sound output...
You don't really need 6x9s in the front doors. A good 6.5" component system (with discrete crossover network and (usually) 1" discrete tweeter) will sound just as good, arguably better, than a big oval, and be easier to fit.
The front tweeters should ideally be placed at or near ear level. The closer you get to this ideal, the better the soundstage and overall detail will be. This requires excellent crossovers to be able to image between two speakers situated so far apart; cheap ones won't cut it. Ideal imaging would require the speakers to be situated on-axis - i.e. use a 2-way instead of a component system - but if you then mount those at the bottom of the doors, the soundstage will be down around your ankles and you'll lose a lot of detail unless you drive with your chin resting on the clutch pedal. You pays your money, you takes your choice...
btw, ICE installation is a very personal thing, and everyone's taste differs. Someone's "killer install" which they love may sound like the death throes of a blue whale to someone else. I build for detail, nuance and drive; if thump is your thing and finesse isn't so important, it's much easier to achieve an acceptable result.
One final point before I grab my anorak and leave - it's all down to the quality of the installation, and especially the quality of the speaker cable and connections. I'd recommend OFC cable - widely available these days, and not much extra outlay for the upgrade. It's like taking your beanie off and listening again when compared to cheap cables.

Ah Bling, you talk good sense , and I take on board what you say about peoples preferences,
I used to build pa systems many years back and got hold of a number of 24" 400w base drivers with a poly prop styrofoam cones, built them into folded horn bins standing 5' high, 5Hz-30Hz ,you could really feel the sound and they would move your hair. supply mainly to the rasta lads with little mid range but good HF cones.
Had them in the anecoic (spelt wrong) chamber at salford uni. with interesting results.
