Alternator idea.

The alternator on the Dehler was making a horrible noise so I started to look for a new, bigger output one. On Ebay, I found an early Audi alternator with 65AMPs. New, £30 plus £7 postage. Of course, it mounted in the opposite direction so i took the pulley off, drew off the front plates of both alternators, fitted the new bearing into the T25 front plate and put the t25 front plate on the new alternator. 37 quid, 2 yellow lucars and 1/2 hour of farting about and I have a working alternator.
I've got a 90 amp Volvo one coming today! (15 quid)

That's got to be a wiki-tip!
(plus a few photos as you go along for those of use who wouldn't know a t25 front plate if we saw one?)

Here is my standard 90 amp alternator pushing 100 amps, seen a max of 120 amps, this is putting 94 amps into the twin leisure batteries, at 14.8 volts, the optimum charging voltage.

Needless to say, it charges the batteries very quick.
The sytem is a Stirling alternator regulator.

It might work, problem is that if you reversed the polarity, it might make the van go faster with the alternator that the engine could push it
All aboard the T25 Prius!
