has this got a black box with it ? about 5 x 2 1/2 with about 4 wires into a plug with it ? ( its the BT one hour timer)
now i'm not saying yours needs one, it could have been modded ..

try turning it off and taking the + off the battery and then re-attaching the + and then starting it up ( on full ) ie turn the reastat all the way around

if the voltage is above 11v at the heater ( last connection next toheater) and the fuel is in the tank, and you dont need, or if you do you have the timer connected, and still it wont ebberspach, undo the 4mm allen screw on the top of the inspection cover, ( you did mount it the correct way up didnt you, with the inspection cover to the top, wires going out to the top, didnt you) and remove the cover, inside there is a multiplug, on the right hand side or the hole you are looking into, unplug it and re plug it a couple of times, they are know to be a bad connection, and give the symptoms you describe..........
also, make sure you have had the power disconnected for 60 mins or more to reboot the cpu.....

how you have mounted it is fine, has it got a good + feed and a good earth? the + isnt getting hot is it when you first try and start it ?

check all the connections and the pump ones ..

you say its flashing red at the reastat ? it may need resetting at a ebber center ..

if all elsefails .. pack it in and start again tomorrow .. disconnect the + and - before closing it up for the day

ok, cant see much from the picture, BUT,
at the loom against the temp control, there should be a black plug, about 8 pins, and a three pin white plug, spade connectors, and a single purple wire also with a spade connector, are we on the right track?

when you say you press the reastat and its goes green ? what do you mean .. it shouldnt make any differance cos its a turn switch not a push one ? check that the plug on the back is correctly fitted
