removing washers!

Washer jets are a one-way trip - i.e. they are fitted with expanding plastic elbows so once fitted to get them out you need to pull them slowly - you might break the elbow so you then need to change them ... BUT ... the plastic tubes they connect to will disappear behind the dashboard if you don't keep hold of them.

The tubes are often just long enough to allow you to pull them out. If you lose a tube, then it is time to remove the dashboard and re-fit them. You might even change the tubes if you get this far ... apparently good tubing is available from your local pet shop or aquarium seller. Also some people recommend using a 2 spray washer since technology has moved on since the 1980's!

Hope this helps for starters! :D

VWlewis is correct once you remove the washer nozzles thety need replacing. Best bet to remove them is to wrap a srewdriver in a cloth (to protect paintwork) & lever them out. They are very difficult to get out without a screwdriver.

Replacement washer nozzles (genuine VW) were £1.50 each from JK when I bought mine 11 months ago or go to VW.
