Seen a few posts about subaru vans having the 2.1 fuel tank fitted in them, i have the original 1.9 carb tank in mine and have not come across problems, but my tank does leak when filled right up so want to fit a new tank so wanted to ask is it a simple task of whip it out and fit 2.1 tank or does anything else need changing??? obv. i gonna fit all new hoses to expansion tanks etc

I am currently doing my fuel system and have been told about the 2.1 tank. I think the main difference (and I amy be wrong) is that it has a swirl pot in it and the to and return drop into the swirl pot. Just Kampers do them for around the £100 mark, as far as I am aware there is no other difference between the normal and fuel injected tank in relation to breathing etc.

				James,
I finished my conversion last week and have done a few hundred miles.
I am using a using a 1.9 tank and am having no problems, (yet).
I thought about changing to a 2.1 and noticed that there are a few different filler neck diameters. You would have to check that yours is the same or swap for one that is.

I had mine changed to 2.1 tank just got it today. I will keep you posted but there may be a fuel starvation problem when gassing it. Mine appeared to die a couple of times at high speed/revs.

All looks good....can I ask where the mounts are from for your pump and filter there - are they straight from Subaru?
Also as far as rubber mounted pumps go is it purely a noise deadening excercise or are there more important considerations related to earthing etc?

dont forget the 2.1 tank has a larger bore fuel outlet allowing for injection pump pressure/flow
other than that and the swirl pot they are the same as long as you have a plastic not metal filler tube(standard on later vans 83ish onwards)

The fuel pressure for a scooby is 36 psi. Above or below this will give you "pooh" loads of bover.
