Fitting rear mud flaps

Hi guys/girls ..... just took delivery of front/rear flaps from JK today ,

front ones have fixing instructions ( clips and bolt ) though I will go with what others have done and use self tappers to secure them .

rear ones no instructions and have the following fixings
[img:791:661]http://xs129.xs.to/xs129/08295/mud_flap_fixings167.jpg[/img]

I am presuming the six small bolts go with the clips and two clips at the end of the bars , two bigger bolts, nuts, washers go through the bars .

do I have to drill holes in the arch for these clips ?
where do the bars attach to ? bodywork I presume

cheers guys

The bars attach to the longitudinal member on the seam. You do not need to drill anything as the bolts pinch the mudflap to the wheel arch rim.

Hope this helps :D

thanks VWlewis ,
though not sure about the longitudinal member on the seam ,does the clip end of the bar affix to the flap or the member? will look in the morning .

The "clip" end uses a bolt to clamp onto the horizontal seam on the longitudinal member ... let me know how you get on. :D

I did think about that method of doing it Rob but a friend of mine with a T25 said that he ripped both of his off when reversing up a kerb and they got caught between the wheel and kerb , so would rather they ripped off than damage bodywork........ I'll look when they are fitted and decide then , the fact you have done it that way might convince me to follow suit ..... will update proceedings tomorrow

flippin heck.it must of been a high kerb.and to be honest.i recon the bracket would rip off the flap before it would damage your body work...just to clarify.i didnt drill the arches..

Cheers for the info m8 tbh I haven't even put them in place to see what they look like or how low they go but I'm gonna bow to your superior knowledge and drill through the seam and rust proof then fix

thanks for the help

An update to this .... fitted both sets today all went well , self tapped the front ones but didn't like the way the clips fitted on the rear so self tapped them as well and painted the self tappers and hole with hammerite anti rust primer , so all should be ok .

so thanks for all the helpfull advice guys
