bolt leaking oil between pushrods on the sump.

wondering if anyone can help me here. There is a bolt between the pushrods on the passenger side of the underside engine. With the magic of a mirror and a torch I have located my oil leak is coming from here.

The bolt is pi**ing oil out big time, anybody else experienced this?

I've tried tightening it but just keeps turning and from what I can see there seems to be a rubber o ring around it which is now more of a C as it is broken.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stu.

It's not where your low pressure oil sender should be is it? if it is you could do with sorting it.

I don't know, where should the low pressure oil sender be?

The other weird thing is I have to use a 13mm socket, I thought all these bolts were imperial.

Just thought I'd put an update on this post.

The bolt in question is a crankcase bolt and sits between the pushrods on the passenger side.

I managed to get the bolt out, standard M8 bolt which I replaced as the thread had been stripped.
Put the new bolt in but lost the thread again and doesn't tighten up fully, so I've had to do a bit of a bodge for now which consists of 10 washers with one copper washer and some hight temp gasket silicone. It's stopped the leak for now which is good news but I have to work out a more of a permanent sollution.
Mind you saying that the old rubber o-ring must have been on there for a while and had been fine. Maybe just stock up on washers and silicon e for those long trips.

Cheers,
S.

Try a longer bolt or if possible drill through and bolt all the way through. Without seeing it its a bit of guesswork but some of them can go all of the way through.
Failing that, tap another thread in, slightly bigger than original (10mm perhaps) and drill hole on 'bolt head' side of casing slightly bigger.

Its not meant to have the rubber O ring there, just a copper washer.
There is a cure which I've used before. Take the bolt out, and tap the hole to 10x1.5. Then cut a type 4 head stud to about 19mm longer than the bolt. The other thing to remember is that the oil pick up hangs off that bolt so take the 13mm bolt off the sump plate to relieve pressure.
You can then thread the stud into the hole, secure it with a 15mm head nut and put the sump plate back on etc.
It's the only way I have ever devised to save it.
