Topic: Fan Relay Part No. for JX - anyone?

Calling all JX owners!
I'm trying to figure out what the part no. is for the relay which powers the rad fan on my 1.6TD van so I can order a new one. I found this to be the problem some time ago through a process of elimination, but now want to replace it. I can't figure it out from vagcat or the brikyard the guide.
Assistane would be much appreiated. Part no./relay no./position etc. I never seem to need the fan over here but am heading off to France later in the week. We'll be loaded up and I want to make sure it's working!
Thanks in advane,
John

smokeyjon,
My van is a 2.1DJ and my manual is for the petrol WBXs, but the wiring diagram for the rad fan relay shows what appears to be a standard looking four pin relay.
Also I found this in the VAGCAT site
11) 191927841
relay / fan motor
12V40A /
BASIC GERMAN PRICELIST
part number 191927841
Partnumber Title Price
191927841 RELAIS 8.75 Euro
It looks as if a 40 Amp four pin relay (do they call them 'pins?') will do the trick. One of the diesel brigade may be along with first hand knowledge later.
Position for 1986 and on (petrol) models is fifth from left top row on the relay plate itself. Single speed fan motors do not have a relay of course. Fuse is shown as S1 30A.

smokeyjon,
Something like this perhaps?
Maplin Relay
The 40A SPNO Auto 12Vdc N02AW (£2.70 in stock) is what I
Think will be the one.

cheers grun.
I've got 4 potential part numbers now (the others are 171 959 141A; 161 937 501B; 141 951 253B!!)! Unfortunately I've got the Bentley without the 1.6TD so can't check the wiring diagrams at all!
It's definitely a 2-speed fan, I know that much...

Thermal Switch Maybe?

I'm still searching for the relay, but someone has suggested that there might not be one! This would explain why it's difficult to find.
My attention has therefore turned to the 2-speed thermal switch on the radiator (part no. 251959481K).
VW tell me that it's obsolete (how useful!). Does anyone know of another switch that can be used in its place?

I've a petorl engine van, so cant help much. 2 speed fan with relay fitted.
Is your relay OK then?
Does shorting the switch connections work the fan?
I dont have my Bently to hand, but I'm sure the relay is an ordinary Single Pole Single Throw type.

Thanks Guys
I didn't think GSF would do specific stuff like that. 93468 seems to be the right one so I'll get one and see if that sorts it.
Cheers!
