Horrible Squeaking from AAZ

Hello,

my AAZ conversion is running fine, but it makes a horrible high pitched squealing noise all of the time :( It goes up and down with engine revs rather than van speed, so it's definitely coming from the engine. I had the alternator bearings fail on my old 1.9DG engine a while ago, and it sounds like that...could it be the alternator bearings on this engine?

I know there's a bit of a ding in the bottom pulley that's taken a nick out of the alternator belt, so I'm wondering if it's the pulley or belt somehow making a racket...is there anything I can do to shut it up?

Thanks :)

Hello matey,

I would get that checked out before your engine fails, I had a similar noise more of a whistle style. I was told and advised it can be the bottom pulley rubber beading shock abosorber thing if that makes sense.
Over time the rubber splits etc.. does the pulley run true or is it wobbly ?

Best probably to get it checked out and probably get the pulley replaced but they are expensive something like 250 quid.

Hopefully I'm wrong but i would get it checked out dude !
where you based ?

Thanks for that...

The bottom pulley's got no play in it, just this dent...although if this squeaking was anything, I'd go with your rubber beading shock absorber thing, as that''s the sort of sound it is...

What a pain in the @rse  I'm driving to the Dingle Peninsula and back from Newquay as of Monday...so that gives me Monday morning to find somebody to tell me how bad it is...

Oh well - thanks for the warning :(
