i am worried that some of the water my fridge produces may not vent out of my van and may be collecting in a nasty little pool somewhere I cant see feeding the rust monster
Am i being worried over nothing or do I need to do something..........help please.

What in the flue or in the ice/cool department?
I ain't never not seen no water except stuff blown in the top outside vent in a storm.

So i think he means 'I have seen water'


1st poster, do your mean condensation from the gas burning? It should be drawn out with the harm air.

You`ll get condensation forming on the inside of the body skin behind the fridge, which will soak nicely into any insulation you`ve got in there. It`ll then drain to the bottom skin/sill seam and eat its way out from there. Most campers with a fridge will have the problem, look at the outside skin where the fridge is situated.

Pull the fridge out, sort out any rust issues ( ) get rid of any fibreglass wool type insulation and replace it with non-absorbant type (I used the silver foil/bubble wrap type stuff) it s quite stiff and stays in place and can be formed round body members etc. Worth doing inside everything you can get at, I did the slider door and tailgate with it as well, piece stuck onto the inside of the outer skin, then another large piece to cover the hole right behind the door card so it`s created a large sealed space, seal everything with silver foil sticky tape, makes a difference especially on noise.

auto sleepers solved the pooling water problem, by putting the bottom vent in the floor... right under the exchangers.. ergo most of the water exits via an aluminium drip tray.

Yes I thought that might unearth a pedant or two! I'd still like to know where it was seen. By the way I have silver bubble wrap on the vehicle skin behind the fridge and my lower vent is in the floor so as to prevent water collecting whatever the source.

the newer fridges have a collection tray situated over the burner, so it evaporates away, mine has and it seems to work...... i also have a vent in the floor, but it was put there for any gas that may leak to exit, not for water!

Look inside the fridge, just under the ice box is a tube that feeds a small open container located at the rear of the fridge. It fills and is supposed to evaporate but not always. Simply disconnect the tube from the drip tray, leave it in place but block the hole in the tube and put another tube that feeds to the bottom of the fridge into a small dish. Simple mod and you can empty the dish. Condensation and open vents can also cause probs as pointed out by others.
