Extractor Fan

Hi guys,

I have recently brought a T25 and am looking to modify the existing interior etc. Before I redo the roof lining (as the original carpet is perishing and front and rear linings are stained) I wanted to see if any members have some kind of extraction hood for their vans?

I was thinking I could do a custom job, try to make a flat packable lightweight hood where the extraction pipe would probably go out of the sliding window. I could possibly fit an electric hood as you would have in a kitchen for use when hooked up or on an inverter but I really want something compact and collapsible.

Any thoughts and ideas would be great,

Will

Come on James now, there might be a monsoon blowing out there or the werewolves are about at night... :)

Will,

Not remember seeing sophisticated cooker hoods and extactor fans much... er, at all - is this for smells or the heat? There's usually a roof vent up there somewhere on better campers.

CakTanks sell a solar extractor - virtually silent. About £39 I think. Some of the others tend to be a bit noisy.

Cheers James that's well useful...

I thought if I'm spending a bit of money on the roof then it may be an idea to stop the grease, smells etc you get from cooking on the hobs. Thanks for the info Carolyn , I'll check it out.

i've got a turbo vent, quite steep to buy new and to be honest i've not used it all that much, but it does do a complete air change in the van in about a minute! it can get rid of fumes from cooking very quickly.

i've also got a solar vent from cak, i would highly recomend these, they run whenever it is light enough but the speed varies depending on brightness of light, and it is silent, and i mean silent, you can only hear it when you put your ear up to it! we got it because it was getting very hot in the van in a morning, with sun beating down on to the high top. it makes one hell of a difference!

I have the 10" 3 speed Turbo fan in place of my rooflight...it don't arf suck and/or blow....as has already been said, you can change the entire internal air in seconds.

Footnote; At the end of the season you will have to clean the fan components of grease and muck build-up, the degree of muck will be depending on how often you used it .
