How do I fit these little beauties? I have managed to get out the old 1/4 lights but it was done in bits and pieces, can not see how the opening ones will go fit in one piece any help or idea very much needed as its started raining now.

With the door open you'll see on the top a screw which holds the top of the 1/4 light frame/slider channel in place and with the door card off you'll see the lower one.

I did mine ages ago from what i remeber there a bit of a cow bag to get in them all of a sudden there in! sorry i cant help more!!!

No doubt you'll have to take the window glass out first ... and probably the tailgate and the rear offside shock absorber, then break your wrist in 3 places ... Oh sorry I was thinking of the Scirocco

No, really the wind-up glass will probably have to come out so the channel can be moved.

I have it in of sorts!! I had to drilled out the two rivets attaching the Front Guide Runner, this has enabled me to fit the opening 1/4 light, re fit the window glass and then slide the front Guide up into place!!! and its still raining. There must be an easier way of fitting these things.

I took 3 hours to do one of mine the other week, as already said, door cards off, top screw under the door seal out, 10mm bolt holding the bottom of the window guide out, seal running around the top of the window out, both window scrapers out (try to get some new ones ready if your outers are as crispy as mine were!!) undo the two 10mm bolts holding the main drop glass to the lift mechanism, lower the window then (this bit sounds simple but isn't) lift the drop glass out, you will have to slide it to the back then tilt it inwards, watch the metal part on the bottom on the top of the door I managed to bend mine taking it out.

Take the old 1/4 light out, you might need to slip a screwdriver under the seal to get it going.

Now the secret! If I'd known this it would have taken about an hour less to do....... take out the two window scraper clips nearest to the 1/4 light, one on each side. Use a small screwdriver from below to push them upwards.

Take the new window turn it and slip the bracket on the bottom of the guide rail between the two skins of the door, lubricate the seal and door edge with silicone grease and slide the whole thing into position, open the 1/4 light and really push that seal home.

For the rest as the haynes book of lies says 'refitting is a reversal of removal.'

I reckon it will probably take me half an hour or so to do the other side now. If the weathers nice I'll take some photos and stick it in the Wiki.

Thanks for all your help and advice, the first side took me about four hours while the other side was completed in about 40 minutes, shows how easy a job can be when you know what you are doing!!

I went through all this a couple of years ago, opened 'em once far too noisy closed 'em again!

I jus changed mine over and the drivers one whistles and the frame needs wiggling to shift the glass back square in the frame so DON'T tap em in too hard!!
