Can anyone give me the dimensions for the front face of the Top Cupboard, the one that goes over the bed.

I am thinking of building one, I only really need the width, height at each end and the height at the centre.

Ta very muchly.

Wouldn't width depend on how deep your side cupboard is, or indeed whether you have one, and height depends on how tall you are when you sit up in bed (and how tall the side cupboard door is)!

You are correct, but there is a standard size cupboard.

There is a standard size, both Westfalia and Reimo used to provide them.

I have the exploded diagram of one, unfortunately it's sans-dimensions.

Without some dimensions the German chippy that I use will be unable to build it.

Hi Titus,

I have a full width one, if you are interested. I can take some pictures for you with some basic measurements?

Em,
As always you come to my rescue.

Any photos and approx. dimensions greatly received.

I would put you at the top of my Christmas card list, but you are already at the top.

Sorry you just proved thers no standard ones by listing two different models!!! What sort of cupboard are you after, what interior do you have, can you not use a tape mesure and able to work out diminsions you want you self, rather being more vague than vague thing??

Day one week one basics really!

OK Titus...

will venture forth to camper tomorrow with camera and measuring tape.

Instead of a xmas card...can your chippie flat pack a couple...or at least do some decent paper plans what we simple non chippie folk can cut around?! Need a couple for my velle and hubby's panel....

- What are you drivelling on about?
Of course I can use a tape measure and of course I can work it out dimensions (and I can spell unlike yourself).

I am only asking for some ideas of the size, I do not know how far foward they, how deep they are, etc.

Sorry, I should have been more precise. I meant standard cupboards from the likes of Reimo, et al.

If you can not provide an answer then...

Thanks for your assistance.

ok...had a session with measuring tape and camera. Not the easiest of jobs, and the measurements aren't accurate to the nearest mm, but hope it will help. Photos show my unit....unfortunately for you I have padded the leading edge as I got fed up with headaches!

NB. the unit is made from half inch ply, and all measurements are external - ie outer edge to outer edge, making no allowance for depth of wood!

Apologies for the mix of imperial and metric....

ok from the front...

[img:400:300]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/04259852fb ... 703fad.jpg[/img]
[img:300:400]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/67369294f2 ... 8f905c.jpg[/img]

ok the front panel is 51.5 INCHES at its longest length (ie bottom edge) and is 23cm from the bottom edge to the top of the unit as centrally as I can estimate it (ran the tape measure through the centre of the hole that opens the locker door). As you can see, the edges are shaped...it comes up at 90 degrees to the bottom edge for aboiut 5cm, then you have that lovely curve!

Now the back face:
[img]http:400:300]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/98328552b4 ... 01a88a.jpg[/img]
from front face to back face its 19 inches deep (remember, no allowances for depth of the ply). The box of the locker is 121 cm wide.

How is it fixed?

God alone knows at the front, cos I cannot see it, but at the back there is a bracket each side that fixes the unit to the side of the van:
[img:300:400]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/090648075d ... 070800.jpg[/img]
poor photo - but the single screw is in the side of the van, and the 2 screws are on the rear panel of the loker (ie the one along the back windscreen)

The only dimensions I cannot get to is the side panels. Presume they are slopey to fit the shape of the roof.

Maybe with your chippies exploded diagram, and these basic (very) measurements, you will be able to get sommat made up? I would add on a little for the front face when you come to cut it out, as I have a Bilbo conversion.....the steel supporting structure can be seen running along the top of the locker....it was difficult to get the measure up into the gap twixt steel and locker!

Take care,
Em

Aghh - missed one
[img:400:300]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/42590525a1 ... c1bc5b.jpg[/img]

the back face is 133cm accross the van, and 12cm high. Tested that 12cm at various points along the width - seemd to be fairly consistent, but would have thought there was a slight curve!

so the whole locker is deeper at the front than at the back:
[img:400:300]http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/44262009c5 ... 3eb7ed.jpg[/img]

sorry - it will go wrong without that last piece of info...
