Oil Pressure Gauge?

Thinking of fitting an oil pressure gauge with sender unit (1.9DG) instead of relying on the 'buzzer of doom'. Has anyone carried out this mod and is it worthwhile?
If it is, where do you get the gauge and sender from and how easy is it to access/remove the oil pressure switch. Just Kampers list gauges and sender for Aircooled but not the WBX.

A.
We fitted one of these recently (a vdo oil pressure gauge and sender from a audi coupe - from what I remember regarding the sender!?) and got these from ebay. The vdo gauge was a 5 bar one.
Basically - from what I have learnt here

and experienced from using the gauge - on start up, oil pressure on cold start up is around 4.5/5ar, goes to about 2/3 when warmed up to normal temp and about 2000 revs and about 1/2 ish bar when idling at working temp.
We've got a 1y engine, so can only relate to this I'm afraid!, but sure it's similar to yours

and put the oil sender on the high pressure switch which is on top of the oil filter and easy to get to.
Bottom line though. Definately worth fitting!

We had all those usual buzzer problems, this way you know exactly - or better idea - what's going on back there in the engine bay whilstthe engines running in all situations. Def. worth fitting!
All best with it!
Cheers

Thanks 4gearwonder, I will look into it, I did see one 1.9 DG WBX with one so I know it is possible.

You will need to remotely mount the sender because it will not fit between the pushrod tubes, i had a length of braided hose made up and secured it to the pushrod tinware.

Where did you get the hose from Shepster, any recommendations as to a likely source?

my 2.1 petrol does 40-60 psi cold, 30-40 at 3-4000 rpm 15-20 at idle warm, I have mine mounted on the top of the head where there's a useful unused M8 tap ontop of no.3 cylinder, little bracket and an omega clip with a cable tie for security. Easy access for wiring. I use the already there low pressure wire front to back and no low pressure switch, guage in low pressure sender hole via flexi to remote sender, then just remove the wire from the 14 pin plug at the dash and make a little plug and play loom to go to the guage.
