Questions about 2nd hand gearbox

Hi,
I went to Fuerteventura to drive my Westy Syncro on sand and have some relax in the beaches. I could test the VC, which doesn't work anymore and I bought another van for parts. It was a 1.9 wasserboxer. I got the gearbox propshaft and front diff... Some lights brake pump, clutch pump, etc...
Gearbox has a crack in the 4x4 and reverse gear section or housing (094301211E) I would like to get a second hand one or a new one, anyone knows who sell them?
Another questions is... my engine is JX 1.6Td and the gearbox is different than a 1.9 petrol... can anyone tell me the differences and if I can use it for my diesel engine?
No more questios by now.

Get the codes off Gbox and the FDiff and look them up here:
http://www.club80-90syncro.co.uk/Syncro ... os%205.htm
Depending on the body style, so the only SURE way is to get the codes off them and reference them to the linked table
The diesel will likely have 5.43 diff and a 0.78 top gear ratio, dunno about the 1.9 DG

Thanks for the answer.
Well, I can change the ring and pinion, so is not a problem. I am worried about the bellhousing, if I can change it or I can not, and if the main body of the gearbox is the same as the Td (I mean parts from inside)

Yes, the bellhousing will fit all those boxes. The cases vary in detail and casting thickness, but will all take the same internals I believe...
It's a matter of stripping it down, and ensuring the inside of the box hasn't been damaged, I believe there are one or two areas where it might get worn if box has been driven with worn bearings, broken internals..
However, stripping a box down and rebuilding it is a job for experts with the correct tools and experience... if the result is to be quiet, change well and have a long life.

Thx HarryMann!!!
Should I open a new topic asking how about manual decouplers or can I still asking here?
I will ask for a decoupler, don't like VC, of course is a nice system but I have owned 3 Land Rovers before and I like to engage a disengage when I want...
Anyone has pics of the process and installation of a decoupler?

Very easy, you work like a git for months to raise the money to buy one (£550~£850) - go buy one...
Fit it easily in a morning, instructions should be in the box..
