Hi Folks

Is there any reason why I shouldn't use one of these bottles in my van?

...apart from propane being a better gas! I've got a full bottle which seems a shame not to use, especially over the summer.

It'd be strapped in the bottom of my wardrobe, well cushioned and standing up. The smaller gas bottle usually lives here anyway, so the leak holes are already drilled there - so I'm just upgrading from a smaller to larger bottle in essence.

My zig unit is located in the top of the wardrobe - so is it ok for the gas to be in there too?

Am I just being way to over cautious?!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

according to the Electrical regulations, you are not permitted to have any cables in a gas locker unless they are run through a sealed gas tight duct, no termnations to be made in the locker other than for low voltage Emergency gas shut off equipment.

as for the propane, if you are not planning on getting a refil then save it for the winter, it will work better at lower temperatures,! but if not use it if you have it!

I've done the same, and put the bigger gas bottle in the back cupboard and piped it up, and everything works fine. I don't have a Zig, though, or any other electricals in there. I have to say, it should be safety first,every time. I don't know these zigs - can it be moved?
The other option, if you are staying static once you are away, it to put the gas cylinder outside the van and run the gas pipe through the vent hole in the floor to connect it. We used to do this, and only installed the bigger cylinder inside recently as we had several weeks touring around Spain, so it made life easier, rather than disconnecting it all the time.
Having the cylinder outside gives you more cupboard space too.
