Morning all

How much would be regarded 'as fair' for the replacement of the front disks and pads on a G90 1.9DG autosleeper.

No london weighting necessary as am in the not so dry North West England :-D

Mr slack, hows it hangin.....anyway to answer your question if everything goes well and nothing needs warming up I would NOT expect to pay for more than 3 hours labour + parts + VAT.

A local garage may charge in the region of 25-35 per hour+VAT, but if you are using Corkills VW up the road you will have to double that amount +VAT.

Is there something weird and wonderful on these babies, discs and pads should be about an hour, 2 tops :?

Verne, I did the ones on our van recently, but it was a complete pleasure to do as everything that was threaded had been previously coated in copper grease, so I can only guess the previous owner or their garage looked after the van with passion... Mr Slacks may be siezed and rusted solid with him living only a stones throw from the sea at Southport.....
Also on the later models, bearing will have to be swapped or replaced which could add another hour to the job if you are a fussy git like me.

You also have to bear in mind not many dealers like getting involved with anything over 5 years old, so if an independant is then chosen they too may not have worked on one of these things for quite some time.

I've just had new discs and pads done today (hooray!). It took about 3 hours, but that was with us cleaning up the old bearings and stopping to chat to various people that kept popping in - as they do.

Now for the rear brake pipes!

Cheers,
Donald.

I agree donald ... Changing them yourself not only saves money ... it turns into a social event.

Have you thought of doing this task yourself Slackbladder?
