I have it on good authority (an islander) that 'no camping' signs are appearing. These signs are being put up by "ferry loupers" (incomers to islands) and we responsible campers should ignore them. The islanders welcome campers (especially van campers). e.g the toilets at the jetty (north Barra) on Barra were put there for campers. The incomers want them taken away to discourage campers!!!

Hmmm, maybe these 'no camping' signs need to disappear.
Not suggesting anybody nicks them, like.

If the locals want you, then the blow-ins can bugger off! At least you can ignore a sign, but there is nothing worse than the appearence of "goalposts" preventing campers accessing scenic spots. Here in Ireland they are everywhere, never noticed really untill I bought a hi-top last summer in Germany. All good through Germany, Luxembourg and France, got home to Ireland and you cannot pull in or park anywhere, all thanks to people having to prevent Travellers taking over carparks etc.
Forget the "goalposts" , use a JCB and just push them out onto the road if they dont move. A favourite ploy is to move into a carpark and demand thousands to move. Or get a solicitor to buy a house in a new development, and then move in 10 caravans etc. The developer will pay to get them out, cause he knows he'll never sell another house while they are there.
