the gear linkage on my 5 speed gearbox has disengaged in the middle section under the van -

now hangs loose -
a white plastic ball seems to join the section coming out the gearbox (as above) - with the section coming from the gearstick under the van -

i'll try and take some better ones - dark last night - torch fading - cold under van - the usual! -
the first is the metal rod that goes to the gearbox - the 2nd is a bit of the 'white plastic' - that it was connected to - which in turn connects to the selector shaft which goes to the bottom of the gearstick -
about half way down the van - underneath! -
also seems to be connected to the handbrake at this point -

I hope it isnt connected to the handbrake.....
Your pic is poor (the first looks like the centre UJ) and the description is a bit loose too...
At the bottom of the gearstick there is a large ball swivel..
on top of the fuel tank is a ball shaped bushing
Half way down the van is a UJ type connection
On the gearbox is another ball shaped bushing on a metal bracket
At the gearbox is a "hockey stick" that has a "socket" to the "ball" on the input arm to the gearbox..

any ideas/. hints/ bits of guidance /
gratefully received -
