Hi got a 2.0 cu engine, distributor had ben out , now got it in and it will run reasonably ok BUT when you go to restart it if still warm is really hard, then starts but get lots of back firing and stalling. I think maybe mixture or carbs, - not my strong points.
Any ideas / advice would be grealy appreciated.
Thanks John

sounding like timing to me........esp as you have had the dissy out........

remember if you check the timing ( if you have a timing gauge) that you should disconnect the idle control device by plugging the two leads together, if it has one

now managed to get timing light out- but getting strange reading.
Using plug 1 I cannot get the timing mark to anywhere near the markings- they are at approx 11.00, using a clock face, but i am getting mark on pully at approx2.00!
if i move the distributor further round anti clockwise engine runs faster but starts to catch on air filterbox. If i leave at that setting when i try to restart engine is really hard to turn over and sounds as if something catching!
if i put distributor back to where it starts ok, the mark is around 3-4.00, runs ok for 20-30 mins then just dies and is hard to start!!!

What am i doing wrong,- could i have TDC setting wrong when put disi back in11 but if so wouldn't run.

Any ideas is driving me mad!!!!!!
