Hi Guys,
I have solid tappets in my bus with the original push rods, any ideas what the gaps should be??

cheers for the link but yep solid no hydraulic any advice, gotta gap em soon help!

just read the link dunno what to do now should I swap back to hydraulic?? haven't changed cam or push rods or valve springs

The cam profile needed for solid lifters is different from that required for hydraulics so you shouldn't just change the lifters without changing the cam - probably not what you wanted to hear but there you are.
Solid lifters on the correct cam need 6 thou clearance.

its very possible that the cam is a hydraulic cam in any case.. but not easy to determine...

You don't have a problem Johnny. Hydraulic cam will run solids but the solid cam doesn't like hydraulics.

They are power thieving little gits and I am going to drop them on all engines I build. CU CT DG and DJ. Cts and boxers will get bolt together rocker shafts and swivel feet rockers or redirected to Elite.. A good company.

Adjusting tappets every 3,000 miles is a small amount to pay for the precision that dumping the hydraulics gives you.

First hand knowledge, not regurgitated... Did my first swap over in 1980. Barrels pistons and heads from a 1600 beetle into a CT. Type 4 lifters (on the ct cam) Flaps permanently open. Filter take off and moved away from the hot air outlet.
