Hi,

I'm trying to get a steering wheel cover for my T25 (the wheel is 45cm or 17.7inches). I tried searching the net for lorry sites and the like but have had little success. Any ideas (other than make one, get one done by an upholsterer, or use bike tape which are my possible plans if I fail to find one to buy)

The wheel just feels really cruddy and despite washing it several times, I always seem to have grime on my hands after driving it. I thought that a cover would be nice

he may have a nicer wheel though...

baby wipes... they really clean the steering wheel up.. failing that some Mr mucle bathroom cleaner...... soapy water wont do it...

some string backed gloves to go with that sir?

just thought that if it was cos the wheel was uncomfortable then you could swap it.

the lt one is exaxtly the same looking and diammeter as a standard wheel , only padded!

I wont change the steering wheel this year, it is just old and grubby and I want to spruce up my van a bit and get rid of that dirty feeling that my hands have after I drive the van. Is changing the steering wheel easy to do incidentally (in case I fancy a go next year?) Has anyone fitted a smaller wheel and if so, how is it turning the van without power steering? Mine is easy to turn with the big wheel, but not sure if I would regret changiong to a small model (although it would make getting into the back of the van easier)

Our van had a small momo leather steering wheel when we bought it and also 205 tyres at low speeds (parking etc) it was a nightmare so stick to the original or take steroids.

I use a steering wheel knob - rarely touch the wheel unless its an exceptionally tight turn so it stays very clean.

Buy a retro leather lace up steering wheel cover from Halfords. They can take a couple of hours to fit but well worth it. Got one one on the steering wheel of my westy. They are the dogs bollox

the retro lace up one, will it fit a 45cm wheel? Is it because its laced up that it it will fit a larger wheel, or do i need to find one in a larger size. I did look in halfords and i couldnt find anything specifically for a larger wheel. If it will fit, it sounds like just what i want

My steering wheel is a standard T25/T3 one on a 1990 westy. Just measured it and it is 42cm across. The leather retro lace up steering wheel cover that I bought from Halfords fitted perfectly. Obviously it's a good idea to warm the cover up and pull it gently all the way round just to stretch it a bit before fitting

Had the same problem and looked for ages for a cover that actually fit..
I tried the Halfords leather lace up and found it too small, no way would it stretch onto the wheel even when warmed up..
I got this off ebay, its not leather and its a very tight fit, you have to warm it well and use tyre levers to make it fit!!
Its well padded dosnt look plasticy and gives a great feel to the wheel and also makes the wheel look smaller, for a tenner its well good..

Nice one Paulw - I've had exact same problem with mucky wheel. It's like some kind of poltergeist - the grime just keeps coming.

Have placed order for charming comfortable cover and now look forward to hours of luxurious grease-free driving.
