Hello,

I am fitting a JK mdf panel on the inside of the boot of my 1989 Transporter. However I currently find it useful to be able to open the boot from the inside by putting my hand in and pulling the metal bit forward. (mainly because the lock is almost impossible to use). Obviously if I put the panel on I can't do this - I was thinking about cutting the panel to leave a hole but I ideally want to stuff some insulation in there so would really like it sealed...

There is however a circular hole at the bottom of the inside of the boot that looks like it might be for this - I was wondering if there ever was a mechanism for any of the better fitted models for opening the boot from the inside, or whether anyone had considered fabricating one?

Some of us have an "emergency" grab loop or some such that is connected to the internal cable so that a quick tug will release. My loop passes thro a couple of small holes in the card so is discreet and tidy.

You may find some Devon vans fitted with a 'Glory Hole' I always thought this was part of the emergency exit when caught in 'sticky' situation......
