Hi there

Anyone fitted Seitz windows into the side of a syncro panel van. Interested in fitting 3 of these rather than VW style.

-These have a very heavy frame compared to a normal window. What's visibility like in the back:- a) when moving for small kids (on booster seats) b)when parked

-What's the largest height version you can put in? (see: http://www.coolhen.co.uk/heki.pdf)

-any opinions about fitting these compared to westy windows? : don't tell me to weld in caravelle frames because it's not going to happen

Not finished yet, gotta paint the white panels, and cut a panel to fit behind the sliding door window.

Re the windows, I am very, very pleased with the Seitz windows and would not get anything else. If you want factory windows then I would start with a multivan, and you get the windows, and can cut the roof for the hightop.

The Seitz windows are very easy to fit, and the margin for error in cutting is more than a cm. The advertised window sizes refer to the hole, and not the finished size.

The sliding door and opposite window is a 900x400 which the finished size is 940x420.

You gain plenty of visibility, but not as much as a window van, we prefer the privacy that these windows give you, and the snug feel in the winter, without condensation. The smaller rear window is a 500x450, which is a little taller, but Seitz do not do a 500x400, I wanted to retain the syncro rear air vent, which fitting a larger window would have removed, but in retrospect I would have put in a another 900x400. The little window is a slider, and unlike the VW factory windows is open-able for the rear passengers, and provides all the ventilation you need.

I wished to retain the factory high-top, as it is a massive bit of engineering, with metal roll over hoops to strengthen it to the degree where the kids climb on the roof.

I have constructed a metal platform which lowers the upper bed to an acceptable level, and use 2 inch memory foam, which is excellent, and comfy for our 6ft tall son, and his younger brother.

I considered removing the roof, but unless you go second hand, like syncropete did with his and fit a westfalia then it will cost you buckets.
