It's pathetic I know but.....

...I sit here in a self satisfied glow - cradling a nice 12 yr old (malt
- not what you were thinking).
Just managed my first bit of maintenance that went according to plan - new accelerator cable (in an attempt at curing high idle that just started).
Followed the wiki to the letter on changing it - perfect advice - many thanks (oh it's an 8mm on the pedal end not a 7) - removing the indicator is a classic tip as far as I am concerned and the string bit worked a peach (much dancing on the drive when that pulled through).
Nothing snapped, no gashed knuckles, no waiting for a JK delivery or a trip the the VW dealer, no rust in my eyes and I could even drive it tomorrow and it only took just over an hour....
It is getting just like owning a new car - OK getting carried away now- I'll go.
Thanks to Hacksawbob for the wiki tips.
