I'm currently on the hunt for a new engine for my T25 carb 1.9 and seeing a lot of 2.1/2.0 engines.

Whats the deal with the bell housing for a 1.9 and hooking it up to a 2.1 etc, are they the same size and is there much of an issue with it being injection? Just after general advice as I'm used to dealing with only carb and 1.3-1.6 Aircooled.

Also as all my other cars/vans are Aircooled so I'd kinda like to put an Aircooled in there. I see there is a 2.0 Aircooled on here for a T25 am I going to run into huge problems fitting this to my existing water boxer?

Any help/advice/engine offers gratefully received

The 1.9DG carb/manifold set-up will drop straight onto a 2.1DJ. The bellhousing is the same too.

Most people tend to look at the Subaru 2.2 16 valve option rather than going back to Aircooled, but if Air is your bag then so be it.

The 2.0 liter A/cooled and the 1.9 petrol and the 2.1 injection motor all use the same box so mating up is only a problem if you are thinking of going down the Diesel (1.6/1.7 /1.9) route, as the starter is placed in a different position to the others.

A complete Aircooled unit with exhaust and ignition system will fit straight in no bother what so ever.

But going from water to Aircooled is a pain and work.. and a big backwards step... but if thats what you want to do.... dont let us stop you..
