Hi can anyone recommend a reliable LPG fitter in central Scotland. Gasure are quoting around £850 and they seem to be the Biz south of the border. Up here in sunny Scotland £1500 seems to be the cost.

I couldn't fine anybody in Scotland that has converted an Aircooled. As you say it's way more expensive up here.
I haven't looked back since I got converted at Easter. I have saved £500 in the last three months, looks like less than 7K miles to pay back the outlay.
Steve at Gasure is the man for the job well worth the drive.
If you want to have a look at his work drop me a PM and we will catch up.

thanks K. Might very well take a trip, as well spending my hard earned cash on assured quality.

I'm based in Falkirk if you want a look at a 1.9DG conversion. For the sake of some petrol and a days drive I'd definetly go back down to Steve and get it done.

More of them stats please Kev. That's what's going to work with Laura my business analyst wife. She is not so sure, I'm convinced it's the way to go.
The way things are going I would expect Gasure to be working 25 hours a day 8 days a week

3000 Miles at 17MPG would need 176.47 Gallon or 802.25 liters of fuel.
At a cost of 111.9p that would be £897.72 for unleaded
or at 48.9p LPG would be £392.3 a saving of £505.42
Click on the link below and use the calculator on the right of the screen. It will do the hard work for you.

There is a chap in Kirkcaldy that I have just used to service the LPG in my Jeep. I asked him if he has done Aircooled before and he said he has done a few but not for a while. I asked for a rough idea of cost but he said he'd have to check on the prices because he hasn't looked in a while. Also depends on choice of tank etc. His premises were a bit rough but he seems to be honest. He even showed me some pictures of the VW's he's restored over the years. They looked quality.
Here's the contact details.
