just getting prepared for the trip back from sweden on the Fri 13th (not Supersticious ) was looking at the wiki and went through the list of tools. Am planning on bringing spanners, socket set, screwdrivers, molegrips, pliers, snips, self amalgamating tape, adjustable spanner ,gaffer tape, stanly knife, a cordless drill as picking up an interior on the way back, will pick up a hammer over there, a fanbelt and the neccesary fluids to get me back and a set of jump leads. Anything else you would suggest? Would it be a good idea to remove the propshaft for the journey back may also call into busman to see if i can get a new vc as the existing one could be stiff anything else worth picking up or people to call into enroute also new to diesels anything to look out for ? I would say if the VC is unknown etc and unable to test and especially if the tyres are not even wear and the same make, then its worth dropping the propshaft for a long road trip..

water and oil.. a few tools as you have said.. but a "preflight" check and a once over at each fuel stop should be enough.. if it breaks propper you aint gonna fix it at the side of the road... so "ADAC" might be worth investing in too...

Hi finally got back with my swedish syncro on monday just need to tend to the bearings both back ones shot and put on a new exhaust manifold and leaking clutch master cylinder just have to go to the dreaded VRT with here tomorrow so fingers crossed good to be back did 2000kms in her so not to bad many thanks to tristar (a gentleman and would happily do business with again who sold me the car), Bernd Jaeger ( who told me my engine was chaos and he couldn't look at it any more but sold me a exhaust manifold (but wouldn't fit that ) nice set of mefro 15" and fitted them for me after rethreading the studs and then torqued the nuts! pay attention people) mike busman and aidan talbot and a guy in germany who sold me the interior who without their help and advice, support and hospitality I would be still stuck along the way or would have been towed home and finally to you guys for the tips especially the self amalgamating tape!! and yes i did use all the tools i brought and even bought a torque spanner on the way. Sounds like an adventure. If you drove straight home without a hitch, it would be boring! Well done.

Oh yeah forgot to mention the broken oil pipe to the turbo and leaking water pipe you know the one and possibly a slightly damaged head gasket coolant level light flashing etc

just got quoted 731 euros (13.5% vat) they reckon my van is worth 5414 euros and i took off the nice wheels etc and have mismatched doors and a basic but dirty interior looks like a 2 grand van so trying to appeal so will see this is going in as a camper the woman in tallaght is very nice but rosslaire make the decision so will see have offered to email pics as she didn't take any you've only got three working days left actually call it 2 and a day for rosslaire to decide so hurry up dude as they don't know whats going to happen as you can bet it will cost you more Paul

Mine is a long way from being on the road yet but I have brought in about 10 cars and one Syncro over the last 3 years. Nothing will change to the VRT rates on vehicles registered before July 1st 2008. Ill still be paying 25% on the OMSP. But who or what says what the OMSP is? Thats why Im interested. If they value the syncro at €5k then Ill have to stump up €1250.
