just bought first T25 - and am sorting a few bits needed... someone botched the crankcase vent hose a while ago and it's now cracked and coughing oilynes over the engine... local garage wants £30 for a new one... seems a bit steep for a bit of hose... ? am i wrong?

anyone any ideas? or spares or should I just shut up and pay up?

also - is there a good online source for bits?

Is this the hose that runs from the black plastic tower thing to the plastic thing sat on top of the carb? (technical speak)? If it is, think we paid around £18 for ours. It is a bit of a weird shape.

Could try either of them. Or call B&B components in Maidstone....they will send parts out in the post - he does trade on e-bay - think its tierod,..sommat like that.

thanks for your help - by the way, what does DG stand for with reference to engine type? (more simple questions i guess... but y'gotta start somewhere, right?)

DJ - University drop-out posing with a turntable (love you Dave ) Oh .... AND 2.1 boxer engine

Enthusiasts refer to the liquid-cooled 1.9, 2.1 (and 2.5 ?) as a waterboxer.

Horizontally opposed flat 4 cylinder engines are refered to as a 'Boxer' engine.

WBX is a shorthand for WaterBoX.

DF, DG and DJ are the number prefixes VW put on their petrol engines for the T25, CT and CU are Aircooled and JX and 1Y are diesel engine prefixes. i.e DG123456 is a 1915cc petrol engine generating 78 PS (unit of power) when it left Hannover.

A '*' after the engine number indicates that the engine's been rebuilt by VW at some point

To order engine parts you'll need to know which engine you have .... it should be on your V5 aka logbook.
