Machining alloy wheel centres to fit

Hi,

I'm aware of the spacers and the longer studs and the correct bolt fittings in order to fit alloys from Audi's, Merc's etc, BUT....................

Can anyone post a picture showing the before and after of machining some of the rim away to fit the front grease cap, but leave enough for the centre cap to fit? Is it the kind of job a standard maching / engineering shop with a metal working lathe can do?

And breath!! :idea

Cheers

Hi mate - I got mine done in a local machine shop - no bother. Cost £20 per wheel.

Thanks fellas.

I assume it's only the fronts that need doing to allow the grease cap room to fit.
Do you have any photo's of the rims on your vans?

Cheers

If you use 30mm spacers, you can retain your centre caps, I have a set of 5 spoke Audi A4 alloy's on mine running 205/55/16 tyres.
This does weight the steering, but does improve the handling considerably!
I will post pic's once i've worked out how!

18x8 RS4's with 10mm spacers. Centre caps wont go on the rears either because of the castle nut.

Thanks for your input guys.

I've got the alloys now. I'll post pics when I'm done.

However as I made my final bid on ebay, the phone rang and it was our ever understanding mechanic telling us the 1.6D had died!!

Don't you just hate it when that happens?
