Hi

I had my Propex fitted by Gasure Steve last year and since then I have spent ages looking for a decent 12v timer i can use with it.

The problem was 12v timers are hard to find and the timers I did find (on US sites) cost the earth.
There is an 80-90 thread here but not a lot else on the site. maplins had nothing and I didnt really want a timer with a cigarette plug, I was after something I could wire in, that looked discreet and was easy to use.

Anyway I found someone who had the same problem sourcing a timer and had some made to his specification. I didnt want to post anything until i had it all working. It works a treat :D
If anyone is interested in more info about the timer ill be happy to post the details. I spoke to the seller (no relation to myself) and he is happy about this.

The timer has battery back up, is easy to set and use has independent contacts (some are tied into the supply voltage) and is a 7 day 24 hr timer

Timer Spec:
* One Channel
* Digital Electronic Time Switch With Daily
* Weekly Programs
* LED Power Indicator
* LCD Display
* 7D Programming Blocks*
* 6 ON / OFF,6 ON/ OFF, For Option.
* Manual On/Off/Auto.
* 24-Hour Format.
* Simple And Easy To Program and Operate Multi-Function Keys

Safty Approval: CE/LVD UL/CUL

I also have the wiring diagram I used for connecting it in my Westy should anyone need it, again happy to post this and photos if its of use to anyone. Timer cost about £43 with P&P

Hi

Been working on the van all day. Finished wiring in the 3-way charger and the timer and everything is now working as it should.
Below are some photos of the timer and a diagram of my wiring setup. I have a 1980 westy and the timer is taking its power from the wires that fed my old ebber.

The arrow shows the plastic mounting part that slides off for fixing the timer. This is the only thing I don't like about the timer. I had planned to mount this near the Propex switch but now I've put it under the RnR bed and I feel this is a better place for me as i wont be changing the timer much and i can override it with the Propex switch anyway. Will post some photos of my setup tomorrow.

Well finished the set up under the RnR bed today :D

Ive fitted a false shelf above the heater, charger etc, which leaves enough room for a quilt, I reckon this will also help to deaden the sound of the Propex with the timer kicks in on those cold mornings and Im trying to sleep :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Below is my setup. I've installed the Muvonics 3 stage charger which charges both batteries on 240v. The thread for this is here
Many thanks to irish.david for the thread and to Westy.Club.Joker for the advice etc :D. I've also had the Propex installed by Gasure and I have now connected a 12v 24hr timer to make the most of the heater.

Thats it for now, looking forward to bus stopover next weekend.
