Bluebird Cab Bunk

Hi,

I bought and fitted the bluebird bunk. I attached at about the height of the top fixings for the grab handle on the A piller (which you need to remove). I used the cover tab from the top passenger side to cover the holes from the now exposed bottom fixings of the grab handle on drivers side. B piller fixings are fitted at approximately the same height/angle as those on A piller.

This leaves about 10-12 inches of clearence to climb in to the bunk. Not much, but OK for any children getting in (my little girl is 6 and can easily get in). Headroom once in the bunk is much more as the ceiling over the cab is higher and the bunk sags when occupied.

Headrests can remain in place and there is still good access to front seats/footwells for storage.

The canvas was tight at first, but after a couple of uses it loosens up to make fitting easier.

Hope this helps and reasures that the money wasn't wasted with bluebird as I thought it was an excellent and sturdy product.

I think the Bluebird one is a copy of the westy one, just needs the canvas to bigger

Could be Louey. Do know it has different mounting clips then westy. Mounting clips are same for bays and bricks. Easy to come by on Samba forum. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/ ... ?id=199079

yep, the bluebird clips are not as stylish - just bent pieces of steel instead of cast/moulded??

The original Westy mounts can be bought from Gunzle @ vwbusshop.de for about £16.00.
