Are they standard van alloys? tyre size is 185x14C, ie commercial van tyres also fitted were 215/70x14C but I dont think you can get these now(I could be wrong!). If you are using non standard alloys you will have to use car tyres, many do without probs.

Yes size of wheels and intended tyres would be good..
You mean 205/70r14 Billy.. they are still available, but limited manufacturers..

DO NOT Use any tyre with a load rating of less than 97 or at least 6 ply. These vans are a lot heavier than most cars.

ANdy will be along later to tell us something like min of 93 on the front and 95 on rear or summat

, but I wouldnt be wanting to use less than the min VW recomended, as you say a 97.. (prob the 205/70r14 reinforced)

Min 97 has stated by VW is for the standard 5.5" steels and 6" alloys.
The above does not apply for larger alloys and tyres from other vehicles.
Opinions and RSholes....everyone has one.

50% tyres will be too low (smaller diameter 75mm less

) and I doubt will be available in a high enough load rating.. you'll need a 205/65 or 215/60 to get the right diameter and sure they are available in a good load rating (for MPVs you see)

205/65/15C are readily available in high load rates(above 97)to fit to 7"X15" wheels.
Do not go for 195's cos they are a pain to seal to 7" alloys.

So you can fit something with a lower load rating than the max permissable axle weights then?? er I dont think so.. the tyre still has to carry the load regardless of whatever size...

I run 94 load rating front on 8"X17" alloys and 95 load rating on 9"X17" alloys rear......both are above the maximum laden weight of my SA Caravelle.
It's all down to simple physics....a load spread over a greater distance etc etc....
Like i said opinions and RSholes.....
Another example for those that are reluctant to listen.
A VW Sharan 7 seater people carrier weighs roughly the same has a T25 Caravelle(same 7 seater)but it specifies 95H load rated tyres has standard and that is to carry 7 adults plus luggage but they run on 7"X16" alloys.......
Oh and please take note of what our German friends(including Claer)use on their high performance Porsche powered vans....which just happen to be TUV approved.......
I repeat...a minimum 97 load rating is for 5.5" and 6" alloys has specified by VW for a T25 with the standard wheel/alloys fitted...nothing else!

As I said.... Andy would be along to say 93/94 for the axle loads......
And I was only quoting the vw std tyre size a load.. so please dont use the R Sole line in referance to me.........

Not aimed at anyone if you had read my first reply?
Opinions and RSholes....everyone has one.
The question was for tyres fitted to 15" alloys and
not standard T25 wheels/alloys.
It pains me everytime this question comes up and the same 97 load rating answer gets stated even though the question is asked regarding larger and non standard VW wheels/alloys.
It says OXO on buses as well but they don't sell it......

Sharan has a max axle load of 1280kg (slightly less on the front) on the rear so thats a 95 load rating..
my Caravelle and Syncro have a higher permissible load on the rear axle than that...

Yes and you will see there was no wheel size in the first posts so all we did was state what vw says.....
I shant bother next time...
Maybe Steve you should write up a text and put it in the WIKI
