Hi guys... Got a major task this weekend.... Does anyone know which is the best way to remove the cylinder bolt without snapping them in half! I need to replace the leaking gasket above No3 on my 1989 1.9 Water cooled engine. Are there any other problems i may encounter apart from a crack-head..... Thanks. Cheers :?

some people say heat them up with a blow torch
i used a rubber mallet and a ratchet
i tapped the ratchet with the mallet only using the weight of the mallet
but it does depend on how old your engine is and how well its been looked after ie has it had the correct anti corrosion anti freeze used in it

hope this helps Tony

If its still in the vehicle, then DONT use a blow torch.... and strongly suggest taqking the engine out to work on it.. its easier...

If the stud is gonna break there isnt a lot you can do.. and then getting the stud out after will be a bit of a pain..
