Typical, problems on first club convoy

Its bloody typical decided to head to Volksfling with our local club in convoy, Needless to say this was the prime opportunity for the camper to play up

I have a 1984 T25 2 litre automatic petrol

About 70 miles into the journey it started losing power on hills and continued getting worse until I was only getting 30 mph on the motorway  . . While I was down there a I got advised to check the oil to see if I could smell petrol and yes I could. However then on the return journey (not in a convoy) it was OK only losing power on a couple of occasions in which I just pulled over for a couple of minutes and it was fine again . I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this before or had any ideas what it could be cheers

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
It's underneath, just after the tank, or sometimes you have 2 when some bafoon doesn't realise there is one underneath and decides to himself that he'll add another in the engine bay meaning 2 lots of restrictions for the fuel pump to work against.

I thought that and was going to replace it anyway but I do know they were done fairly recently and there is only the one thankfully :D

Some of the smaller ones don't flow as much fuel as they should and the collapse, or, more possibly your fuel filler neck is perished and letting water into your fuel tank, and either water is making it's way to the carb, or it also has made your fuel filter collapse.

Hi gdr77, meant to come and have a chat with you guys from 'ness. Never got the time in the end. Will have to check out website as I'd be up for a meet or two as I'm not too far away.

Back on topic, I had a very similar problem. Check fuel hoses around the filter. Mine had gone, have now been replaced and so far so good. Breathers around the fuel tank now

Cheers
