Hi All, my '85 DG petrol w/cooled is giving me a slight headache and I can't find anything on the wiki for it and the forum is yielding precious little.
Had some lumpy /jerky running recently so changed the rotor arm & cap which has improved things greatly BUT...........when I start her up the auto choke engages and proceeds to do its thing, however half way thru as the revs pickup instead of the usual buildup the revs drop off and the the engines feels/sounds like it's being starved as the engine gets lumpy. Also when I set off the first 10-20mm on the throttle is fine then the hesitancy starts. As the throttle goes down further the engine picks up and sets off at a good rate.
any ideas where I need to be looking?, fuel pump?, carb?, recently changed all fuel lines , had a service etc.cheers.

Lumpy Jerky,,,,,,,,,is what can only be regarded a a typical running concern for this model fitted with the 1.9 DG motor.......

Apart from the obvious on the fuel lines to the carb have you checked or had checked all the rubber link pipes to and from the breather tanks under each wheel arch ? For the simple reason is that they perrish over time and tend to draw water into the fuel tank, mainly due to where that are positioned.

Also the clear plastic in-line fuel filter is always easy to check if any water is in the fuel system as most of it tends to lay in bottom section of the filter and generally indicates a problem somewhere along the line.....

Also a good blow job done on the carb jets is often a good idea, at times like this, if you don't find something conclusive.

Hi Fritz, thanks for the pointers, I've never changed the breather pipes so I'll make a start there and check the fuel filters again, nice one, DeeGee.
