Front hand brake cable, where to get one?

Can anybody point me in the direction of where to get a front hand brake cable from, the one from the hand brake lever back to the balance bar? Tried GSF and they've no stock and can't get any more. The only other alternative is a genuine VW part but at £20 is a bit steep.
Any ideas peeps?

There's supposed to be a cable? When I checked mine out the other week there just seemed to be a steel rod... better look again!

it is a steel rod threaded one third of its length, and unfortunaetly the fuel tank has to be dropped to enable the rod to be secured to underneath of the van.abd pushed through the aperture to locate onto the handbrake leaver clevis pin. Have fun its a learning curve fitting a new brake rod
