Rocker cover gaskets, sealant ?

I'm renewing the covers, clips and seals, as they're rusting out and starting to weep. Should I be using a sealant on the gaskets, if so which ?

there's no pressure in there

Never used it either, smear of grease to hold the new ones in place and make sure the clip has a good amount of tension.. the gen vw rocker covers are the best ones.. the chrome ones are generally crap... good quality gaskets help too..

\if you must use sealant, use it very sparingly a smear... prob one of the wurth ones or a loctite...

Not done job yet. The VW covers are 34 each (!) so got JK ones for under a fiver. Turned out to have a VW stamp on them so seem a good buy. Will try dry first see if that works. Cheers.

GSF used to have the gen vw ones cheap too.. prob are gen if they have the VW log as JK had to stop selling stuff with the logo if it wasnt gen...

Seal gaskets to rocker cover, grease gasket to head.
Never leak, always get them off without tearing.

GSF sell genuine ones for about £13 each, usually, GSF part numbers with a A on the end means it's a better quality one, or so it seems.
