can anyone post any pics of the back of the fridge & how the outside flue fits on the panel?

nigel is attempting to fit the fridge today and has started that shouty thing he does whenever he works on the van

It might do, we've got the RM122, tis only the gas & battery model. Not planning to run off battery at all so the gas is the important type

- it seems that to keep the correct angle of the flue, it would have to come out of the van bodywork where swaze (?) line is and not on the panel & he doesn't want to start cuttng holes in the side of the van without being 110% sure that its going to be right.

(he's calmed down a bit now! )

if you have the same pipes as mine at the back there is some flexibility in getting the flue out from the side of the van just be careful not to crack the pipe
ive had mine out a few times now and ive had to flex the pipes a bit and its been ok

Im pretty sure most of the Dometic fridges are the same height I would take a look in the garage galleries here at the exterior vent and make sure yours is at the same height... above the concave bit... just stick it in the middle of this section (up&down) so it looks pretty. As Mr Shouty has figured out it must vent upwards so the hot fumes vent themselves by convection...
And he will need to start cutting some vent holes in the panels too so the fridge circulates air properly.. IMHO..

you might as well pull a split charge connection in, that way you can keep the fridge running when the engine is running cuz you shouldn't use gas on the move

oky doke, i'm no artist but i've drawn some pics of what the problem is

when we push the fridge right back, not only does the bit that goes through the side of the van rests sort of half & half on the indent bit (we also need it to be shifted slightly to the right as it rests agaist the door pillar - bit the seatbelt attaches to)

does this make sense? and has anyone rectified the problem?

I really need the fridge before next weekend as we are going away & I don't fancy manky bacon!

Ive just put mine back in and its always a pain to get in
In my westy there is a vent on the side of the cupboard so you can get your arm in and move the flue while jiggling the fridge, even with this its still a pain
maybe get someone with a long nose pliers or a screwdriver on the outside to guide the bit that goes through the side of the van

there is some flexibility in the bendy pipe

On all the campers I've seen (and I've seen a few) the flue exits above the indent. I would imagine trying to fit one in the indent would be problematic to say the least. Can't you extend the 'bendy bit' or raise the fridge?

my fridge slides in on a strip of wood either side so its about 2-3" off the floor

I'll try again tomorrow with it on a piece of wood or something, there is room for it to be lifted and we coud still make some sort of airflow vent at the top without much difficulty.

any ideas regarding it hitting the door post pillar?
