Hiya,

I've got a noise! and a vibration, The vibration came first, in a narrow rev range, any gear or out of gear, clutch up or down, felt strongly in the clutch pedal, noise from bell housing/engine area. the noise started when reversing only or on a steep gradient (nose up in gear or out clutch up or down) and is now there whenever the engine is running in gear or out, clutch depressed or up. noise is metallic scraping / heavy rattling quite loud....

I thought maybe an engine bearing at first but the engine still runs well, idles fine once warm done 3000k since vibration first appeared. Any ideas? I'm thinking damaged pressure plate or summat?

Thanks

Dave

Thrust Bearing on clutch may have broken up.

While you have got the gearbox out to change the release bearing, look at the state of the clutch itself, it may need changing as well.

I thought release bearing would change noise with change in the pedal position?

Is there any danger of gearbox/ engine damage?
