tips needed for fitting an overhead cabinet

Hi,

we've got a tin top '88 caravelle, RHD, twin sliding doors. We got it last year with a westfalia interior already fitted in it. The only bit not fitted in was the overhead cabinet at the back above the bed. Well the time has come for me to try and fix this bit in!

I guess I'm going to have to drill through the ceiling material at certain points to screw it in.... Anyone done this before - got any tips?

I want to do a decent job, so help appreciated....

Cheers all

in the westy the rear upper locker is fixed to the wardrobe and to a board that substitutes the headlining. i have the same task to do on my syncro and i think fitting a flat board to the side rails first would be the simplist way then fit the locker to that in the same way westfalia did it.

I still haven't got around to doing this yet. Have you fixed your overhead cabinet in yet lee? If so, did work alright?

4 screws up into the roof pillars are all that are needed, I have a full width one at the mo and thats all that holds it up!
I am currently awaiting prices back from a company for diy & customised kits for these and then the Westy style side and overhead cupboards.

marandali. i`ve not done mine yet as i`m 1/2 way through fitting a westy pop top to the syncro and it`ll have to come out to do this. once the roof is on i`ll get it done.

trouble is the syncro is a running resto/mod bus so i daren`t do anything that puts it off the road for too long.

_lee - no worries. I'll let you know how I get on if I get there first ;-)
