Hello peeps,

After reading a different post I decided to purchase a electric fuel pump, It's now arrived and reading the instructions, It doesn't just recommend fitting a oil pressure switch it STRONGLY RECOMMENDS it!!!!!!!

question, How many of you have fitted the pressure switch? is it worth it?

Thanks

Are you sure it is asking you to fit an oil pressure switch ? to what the engine or the new fuel pump ?

I would have thought if anything you may need a fuel regulator in the fuel line.....

What make is it, and where did you get it from ?

You would be better with electric fuel pump relay that uses the tachometric signal to turn the pump on and off rather than using an oil pressure switch.
It is something I am looking into.

It's a Facet solid state electronic fuel pump 2.5 - 3.5 psi

It reads:
Install an OIL PRESSURE SWITCH during installation of this fuel pump and connect the red power lead to the P contact. This stops pump operation if the engine stops and the ignition switch is ON

It then show a drawing of a pressure switch with 3 connectors
One connector as P where the live goes then an I and a S.

mean anything??

Definitely worth fitting as it will shut the pump off in the event of an accident.
There are three ways to wire in a safety circuit for the fuel pump. The cheapest way is in diagrams one and two either using the oil pressure switch or the alternator to switch a 5 pin change over relay, note the connection from the starter motor is to prime the carbs before the engine starts.
Diagram three is using a tachometric relay as fitted to early fuel injected Golf's And LT Vans.

Oil pressure switching.
