I have an 84 panel van which I am converting to a camper type. I can rebuild the current engine 1.6 TD with a CY number, out of an Audi I believe, cost about £400 with recon head. plus new turbo plus bits, would be about 55 BHP or a new TDI PD engine which would be £1,500 ish which would give me 115 BHP, is it worth the extra, plus concerned about the emmisions stuff likely to come in which could mean the old engine had to be replaced anyway, would like to fit a new engine and have a great vehicle with enough power to go for years, but need convincing it is worth it, understand it is not a simple task of dropping a new engine in but are there snags I need to be aware of, am told by supplier that 1.9 TDI PD will fit, sorry it` so many questions

110bhp tdi is fairly straight forward to fit but exspensive, certainly way above £1500. 115bhp tdi is a huge job, loads of electrics, very time consuming and exspsensive.
The best engine in my opinion for these vans is the 1.9td

sorry it`s been so long since 1st questions, have the engine, nearly out, of A80 1.9 tdi, still in one piece and all ready to pull out through the front of car as that has been removed, can completely remove it with loom and control etc, ready to fit. can someone give me a quote for fitting it in, or recommend a contact, genuinely want to get this going, have cash now to complete project?
