gti, whats the best gearbox

fitted a gti a year ago, i'm running it on the original '85 4 speed.
would i be better off with a 5 speed or should i stick with what i've got?

4 or 5 doesnt make any difference, its all in the code.. if its a D box then it might benefit from a petrol box as the D will be a bit lower ratio..
if it works well and seems happy rpm wise.. leave it be (good idea to do an oil change on it though..)
If its leaky/noisey/revtastic on the motorway have a word with Aidan
