Hello, my cambelt keeps on wearing as it is continually being pushed to the side and rubbing down on the crank shaft sprocket/ waterpump pulley. Found some play on the diesel pump sprocket shaft, could this be the cause, how snug should the spocket shaft be, is there a bearing that can be replaced? cheers

Side to side play in bearing will cause belt to wear on outer edge, end float in the pump won't cause any issues. Mis alignment of the pump will also cause belt to wear. The bearing can be replaced but its the first thing to go in the pump so its a full strip down. Timing belt tension is the normal cause of the wear.

Hi thanks for the info Andy, how do you line up the injector pump, i know how you adjust its timing but i never thought of its alignment as i've always presumed you can't adjust that. If i can adjust this to compensate for the slight angle of sprocket due to slight side to side play ( thus squareing it up)that would delay any pump work . I presume replacing a bearing in the pump is a job for the specialist? cheers Mike.

Its not meant to be adjustable, the loosen the bolts hold bracket onto engine, try to twist top of pump anti clockwise and re tighten. This is a design flaw.
