Got me 'sel an absolute mint Audi 100 2.5 Tdi . Has 160k on it with 000's of service history + loads of 'preventative' work done ( all new front arms/bushings/tie rods etc etc new shocks all round) matey has thrown thousands at it . Has also had oil changed every 6k !
I am going to get the injectors rebuilt , local specialist has equipment to rebuild completely including checking/shimming for breaking pressures.(oh , and i kow they will be pukka nozzles , not chinese crap!)
Has anyone ever swapped for a set of rebuilt injectors/nozzles on a car they have owned or do most people pass em on beofre they need doing ? Just wandering what sort of difference to expect ? mpg/smoothness/quiter/performance etc ? Is it a kick up the a*** difference or just a smug grin ?

MPG should improve slightly, maybe quieter at low revs, it won't be anything dramatic.

Hard to say really, if some num nut has been feeding it on veg oil for a few thousand miles improvement should be better.

Best improvement to make to them engines is check timing every service, it will be out every time. Don't leave timing belts until due for replacement, very prone to snapping early and its always game over when they do.

Is it worth running a tankful of bio thr it ( JUST THE ONCE) to clean the inards a bit ? promise i will only do it the once on this one - dont want a shagged pump.
Remember reading in service docs that last time it was serviced it was too far advanced and was knocked back to the factory 'max' . i presume we are talking about gettting it checked on VAGCOM/ VAG diagnostics as opposed to the 'mechanical' way ?

Unless its a very late one the pump seals will not apreciate it. Best with just normal diesel.

Yes needs checking on diagnostics and mechanical adjustments if required, they normally retard themselves over time. It makes a big difference, when i used to work on them all the time i could set them by ear and then check on diagnostics and be right almost everytime.
